A series of workshops focusing on brain health, muscle exercises, and diet management were designed by students for Alzheimer`s prevention, promoting a healthy lifestyle and enhancing overall well-being. During the workshops, students gained firsthand experience of the significance of effective and empathetic communication with the service users. 💬Moreover, this experience enhanced their confidence and provided insights for their future professions. 👩🏻⚕️👩🏻⚕️
[𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴] 𝗘𝗰𝗼-𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗘𝗡 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻♻️🎲 Students partnered with LINK EDUCATION for their service-learning project with SEN children as their service targets. They designed an eco-themed board game and conducted gaming sessions to enhance the SEN students` organizational and communication skills. 💬 A total of 4 sessions were held, involving around 30 children. 👧🏻👦🏻
Having a wonderful time interacting with the children, students gained valuable hands-on experience serving the SEN community and fostered a more inclusive mindset. 🫶🏻 The design of the soft skills training program illustrated students` creativity and demonstrated their thoughtful approach to the project.💡Throughout the process, they gained a deeper understanding of the daily challenges faced by SEN children and learnt to appreciate their unique strengths. 🦄
[𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴] 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 ✨🥳 After six months of preparation last year, four groups of students successfully implemented their service-learning projects (SLP) in Term 2. 🤝 Collaborating with their peers who share similar interests, students have served individuals with special educational needs (SEN), elders vulnerable to Alzheimer`s Disease, the elderly community, and children of ethnic minorities. Throughout this one-year journey of service-learning courses, students reflected on their personal development, the meaning of life, and the value of university education. 🎓🙌 The insights and experiences gained from their community service guided them in fostering civic-mindedness and creating positive changes in the community. 🌟
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our course instructors, Dr. Angela Shik and Ms. Winnie Fung, and SLP advisors, Master Mok, Dr. Victor Lau and Prof. Kevin Hung, for supporting and guiding our students. 🫶🏻
Stay tuned for our upcoming posts where more details about students` remarkable SLPs will be shared! 👀
