S.H. Ho College is pleased to present a three-session sketching workshop series to be held from January to March 2026. This workshop series aims to cultivate students’ observational skills in on-site sketching, their ability to translate visual experiences into brushwork, and their overall artistic sensitivity.
Workshop Details:
• 31 January 2026 (Sat)
• 28 February 2026 (Sat)
• 21 March 2026 (Sat)
The first 2 workshops will take place on the CUHK campus. Prof. Emily Lai will guide students in observing the rhythm between nature and architecture, spatial layers, changes in light and shadow, and atmospheric composition. Through on-site sketching and live demonstrations, students will learn how to translate what they see into ink expressions shaped by personal perception. The 3rd workshop will be a special off-campus sketching session, jointly led by Prof. Lai and Prof. Ng Yuet-lau, a leading representative of the Lingnan School. In a more open environment beyond the campus, students will further experience the integrated rhythm of “walking, seeing, feeling, and painting,” and gain insights into how the Lingnan School continues to evolve and transform in a contemporary context.
The College will provide basic sketching materials, including sketchbooks and water brushes.
