Reappointment of Master of S.H. Ho College

The University Council, at its 3rd meeting (2026) on 30 June 2026, approved the reappointment of Professor Vincent C.T. Mok as Master of S.H. Ho College for a term of three years, effective from 1 August 2026.
Throughout the re-appointment process, Professor Mok received heartfelt support from students, alumni, and members of the College community, encompassing their trust in his leadership and vision for the College.
Professor Mok is currently the Mok Hing Yiu Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine. His teaching excellence has been recognised with multiple awards, including seven-time Teacher of the Year Award at CUHK from 2005 to 2012 and the Master Teacher Award in 2012. He is also one of the pioneers in developing the Global Physician Leadership Stream (GPS) programme, which is a flagship undergraduate programme of the Faculty of Medicine in providing leadership training for medical students. As a core member of the founding GPS team, the Faculty and University awarded him the prestigious Faculty Education Award (Collaborative Team) and University Education Award (Collaborative Team) in 2023.
As a renowned expert in neurological disease, Professor Mok has made significant contributions through his research in dementia and cerebrovascular diseases. His research interests include the study of vascular contribution to dementia, cerebral small vessel disease, multi-modal brain and retinal imaging for cognitive disorders and Parkinson’s disease. He was ranked as world’s top 1% scientist in “Neurology and Neurosurgery” and world’s top 2% Scientist (2025, Stanford University).
Professor Mok’s achievements have earned him numerous honours and awards. In 2011, China’s Ministry of Education honoured him with the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award (Science & Technology) in Natural Sciences (1st Class), the Outstanding Fellow Award from the Faculty of Medicine in 2016 for his outstanding leadership in research and education. For his research work on vascular cognitive impairment and dementia prevention, he received the Excellent Research Award and the 10th Health and Medical Research Fund Anniversary Award from the Food and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People’s Republic of China in 2017 and 2021, respectively. In 2022, he received the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service for his notable achievements and contributions to the society. In 2024, he received the Advance Global Australian Award in the Education, Science and Research category, recognising his world leading innovation in professional areas and making a significant impact worldwide.
Professor Mok has been actively engaged in public service and professional development. He is the Co-Director of Charles Kao CUHK BEAT AD Service; Chairman of Wong Tai Sin District Health Centre Advisory Committee; the Director of Lau Tat-chuen Research Centre of Brain Degenerative Diseases in Chinese; the Director of Margaret K.L. Cheung Research Centre for Management of Parkinsonism; the Director of Therese Pei Fong Chow Research Centre for Prevention of Dementia. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Neurology Specialty Board, Hong Kong College of Physicians. He was a past member of the Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following COVID-19 Immunization and Guardianship Board, the Government of HKSAR.
