Visits from Afar
S.H. Ho College welcomed delegations from various colleges from afar in recent months. These visits provided valuable opportunities for exchanges and collaborations between the partner colleges and S.H. Ho College.
Led by Prof. David Chen, the Master of Muse College, 30 members and students of Muse College from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen visited the College on 27 October, 2023. During their visit, student representatives of the College shared their experiences at S.H. Ho College and guided them in a campus tour.
On the same afternoon, S.H. Ho College welcomed a delegation from Yuanpei College, Peking University. Led by Prof. Li Zhe, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yuanpei College, the delegation consisted of nine members. The representatives from Yuanpei College and S.H. Ho College engaged in extensive discussions on college construction, admissions, and models of residential colleges. This visit was particularly significant as it followed a visit by Prof. Vincent Mok, the Master of S.H. Ho College, and Mr. Andrew Lau, the College Secretary, to Yuanpei College in September 2023. In that visit, S.H. Ho College and Yuanpei College renewed the exchange agreement between the two colleges. In addition, S.H. Ho College also became one of the founding members of the Association of Colleges in Universities of China during the inaugural conference held at Peking University. The establishment of this association provides a platform for exchanges and cooperation among colleges and brings new dynamics to the development of educational models in China’s higher education.
The third visit took place on 13 November, 2023. Led by Ms. Liu Ruolan, Director, Center for Holistic Education, Taiwan Normal University, a delegation from Honors College, Taiwan Normal University visited S.H. Ho College. The delegation, consisting of 12 members and students, exchanged ideas with representatives from S.H. Ho College on topics such as the collegiate system, College activities, student-run hostels, and the development of a home culture. The guests also visited the facilities on the campus.
On 11 December, 2023, Prof. Ye Lixin, the Master of Harmonia College, and three members of the management of Harmonia College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, visited the College. They discussed with Prof. Vincent Mok, the Master, and Prof. Lee Tan, the Dean of Students, plans to collaborate in student programmes.
These visits not only fostered collaborations and communication between S.H. Ho College and the partner colleges but also offered insights into different approaches to collegiate systems, college activities and operation.
