Touching Lives – Social Services of S.H. Ho College

Serving the community has been a core value of S.H. Ho College. That is why the College is thrilled to launch an exhibition on “Touching Lives – Social Services of S.H. Ho College”. In the exhibition, we look back the care and concerns of teachers, alumni and students of the College for the people in need in different corners of the world over the past decade. With the footprints traced, we also try to map out a new path to take the endeavours to the next level in the coming years, namely, the important service-learning courses in General Education Programme to be launched.
The College kicked off the exhibition with an opening ceremony on April 18, 2023 when students and teachers of the College, and guests gathered at the Gallery of the College to enjoy delicious authentic African beverages and snacks while sharing their experiences in serving those in need across the world.
Officiating guests of the event include Prof. Ko Wing Hung, University Dean of Students; Prof. Vincent Mok, Master of S.H. Ho College; Mr. Sunny Cheng, Director of Watoto Asia; Dr. Angela Shik, Honorary Student Counsellor and Member of Personal Development and Mental Well-being Sub-committee of S.H. Ho College; Dr. Ng Pun Hon, Professional Consultant (Honorary) of the Faculty of Education, and Member of Community Service Team Sub-committee of S.H. Ho College; Ms. Peggy Yip, Lecturer of the School of Life Sciences and Member of Community Service Team Sub-committee of S.H. Ho College; and Miss Hilary Kwok, President, Representative Council of S.H. Ho College Student Union.
At the ceremony, the distinguished guests attached pins of the College emblem to a world atlas, symbolising the College’s social services spreading all over the world. Mr. Sunny Cheng, Director of Watoto Asia, also shared the recent situations in Africa and gave audience an insight into how individuals could respond to the needs of the community. This summer, College teachers and students will travel to Uganda, Africa again and sow the seeds of love in distant places. They will be visiting the orphaned children and women in slums. Additionally, they will be participating in renovation and improvement work for schools and communities located in impoverished areas
From now until January 31, 2024, we invite you to come to the Gallery and witness the touching stories of lives impacted by social services and be inspired by the incredible ideas and actions of the S.H. Ho community members. Together, let’s make a difference!
