Anything but Ordinary

After I graduated from S.H. Ho College, I joined the Hong Kong Fire Services Department with impetuous passion.

Although the job of firefighting is full of challenges, I am just an ordinary person when I take off my uniform. I used to have countless hobbies, but now I am only busy with work as if I have become the adult I abhorred.

Everyone always feels that he is unique when he is young. But as we grow up, we will encounter more people and frustrations, and gradually realize that we are just a speck of dust in the universe. No matter how hard we try, we cannot change the world. The feeling of powerlessness may be more prominent when we are lost.

Especially in the era of information explosion, you can easily access the “wonderful” lives of others by simply clicking on your phone. In comparison, our day-to-day work seems to be ordinary. In the past, we might hope to absorb knowledge as much as possible, but today, I think it is more important to learn to not listen to others but your heart.

Listen to your heart, re-understand yourself, and recognize your uniqueness. Afterall, we are still unique individuals. Insist on doing what you like, and do not compare yourself with others, we are all the protagonists in our lives.

Let us who are unwilling to be ordinary not be ordinary.
