A Summer of Enriching Internship Experiences

The Summer Medical Attachment Programme provides students with the opportunity to gain clinical experience by shadowing leading specialists.

Summer internships provide students with invaluable opportunities to gain practical experience, broaden their horizons and enhance their skill sets. The College offered two internship programmes this year, each catering to different interests and disciplines. From administrative assistance to clinical exposure, these internships have allowed College students to grow both personally and professionally.

The Summer Medical Attachment Programme (SMAP) provided students with the opportunity to join the clinical practices of leading specialists in Hong Kong. Specifically designed for the College’s MBChB Year 4 students or above, the programme offered a hands-on experience in specialist medical centres and hospitals, such as St. Teresa’s Hospital, CUHK Medical Centre and Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. By shadowing leading medical professionals in the field, including radiology, geriatric medicine, breast cancer, haematology and haematological oncology and ophthalmology, participants gained valuable clinical experience of patient treatment.

In the S.H. Ho College Hostel Summer Internship Programme, interns were exposed to various aspects, including office administrative assistance, frontline handling techniques and managing hostel resources. With guidance from an experienced site supervisor, participants could sharpen their organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. This programme could contribute to the smooth functioning of the College and train the interns to become more efficient and effective administrators in the future.
