My Highlights in 2023
28 December 2023
Friends, as the year comes to an end, may I share some of my highlights in 2023.
We adopted Ollie! She brings joy and builds friendships. Thanks to everyone who shows love to her too.
We pioneered the first “Brain HEAlth Service for PrevenTion of Alzheimer’s Disease (BEAT AD)” in Hong Kong, sponsored by our College Honorary Fellow Dr. Lin Ching-hsia (林青霞博士). It incorporates AI retinal imaging technology for screening Alzheimer’s Disease and provides service-learning opportunities for our students. This is a major leap in beating dementia for our aging society.
With support from our students, I led the College “DEM BEAT” (DEMonstration of BEAT) at our annual talent “SHHOW” in November and probably broke the Guinness record of being the oldest person leading a DEM BEAT.
My trip of the year was to Uganda in June, participating in projects along with students among the underprivileged. The trip made me realized that having a home, food, or education cannot be taken for granted.
My lesson of the year came from chatting with two athletes from our College, who represented Hong Kong in the Asian Olympics. They shared how they have done their VERY BEST in persevering through the TOUGHEST training. To them, achieving “do our best, no regret” is more important than achieving the desired results.
Looking back, thanks to everyone who have supported me/one another in making our College a better home for all of us to grow and our society a better place for all to live in.
Looking forward, let’s live out “do our best, no regret” together! Happy New Year!
