MAD for our Home

13 April 2023

Recently, I hosted the first party at the Master’s Lodge, inviting all students who had just stepped down as Office Bearers of the two Resident Councils (2022-2023) of the College. I would like to particularly thank them because they had taken up the responsibility of upholding the living and learning environment amid the COVID pandemic when things could get chaotic and unpredictable.

Since the first semester, I have heard positive comments about the Resident Councils. Some students shared with me that members of the Councils were sensitive to their needs and tackled their needs efficiently. One of the College staff members shared with me that he was impressed to see that the members were not only able to take students’ needs into consideration but were also able to step into the shoes of the College staff members, so that eventually a decision was made that could cater to the concerns of different stakeholders. Another member shared with me that being able to Make A Difference (MAD) in enhancing the welfare of students was the most rewarding. The same member shared with me that the experience as an Office Bearer has helped him realise that a good leader needs to have commitment, in that even when things get rough, the leader needs to commit to completing the job and not giving up.

My salute to every student who would like to be MAD for our Home by taking up various official or unofficial leadership roles in serving other brothers and sisters. May you be blessed with great memories, life-long friendships, and noble character in your commitment to serve.
