A Special “O” Camp
25 June 2024
Last Saturday, a group of student leaders from last year’s Orientation Camp were training students who had committed to serving as leaders in the coming 2024 Orientation Camp for freshers. At the same time, our Alumni Association organised another “Old” Camp, where a group of College graduates (i.e., oldies) spent the weekend at the College, re-experiencing life there.
Although some graduates who joined are good friends (in fact, there was one married couple among the campers), not all graduates knew one another well as the years of their graduation spanned from 2016 to 2023. Yet, all who came were eager to build new friendships with one another. I was invited to give an opening remark at the beginning of the camp. I quoted a verse from the Bible, “A brother is born for adversity” (Proverbs 17:17), to encourage them to be brothers and sisters to one another. My wish to all graduates and students is that they can build kinship in and through the College, and the hallmark of kinship is that they can stick with and help one another amid adversity.
Graduates, you are always welcome back home! Ollie was overwhelmed with joy as she met up with our beloved graduates!
