Henan Ten-legged Biyong Small Pottery Inkstone with Green Lead Glaze

This is identified as a Tang inkstone based on its origin from Henan Province and its green lead glaze. Its design is biyong style, which first appeared in the Eastern Han Dynasty. It refers to a round, centrally flat grinding surface with a deep water-pool in the periphery to contain ink. The ten-legged design is derived from the multi-legged inkstones in the Southern Dynasties.
