In conjunction with the GESH1010 Orientation and Outreach induction programme for new students, a series of Open Forums have been organized for the university community to share its views on our heritage.
“The Call to Adventure” is dedicated to distinguished figures and benefactors of the university during its founding era. We invite a panel of guests with first-hand experience to share their views. It is a call to freshers and university members at large to pay tribute to our forerunners and appreciate their contribution. Invited guests include Prof. Cheung Chan Fai (Former Director of University General Education), Prof. Rance P. L. Lee (Master of Wu Yee Sun College), Prof. Fung Kwok Pui (Former College Head of United College) and Prof. Samuel S. M. Sun (Master of S. H. Ho College).
“Academic Traditions of the CUHK” is jointly organized with the Office of University General Education. The panel recounts and examines the academic traditions of the university, including the college system, general education, social concerns, student activism, academic heritage, etc. Invited guests include Prof. Albert Leung (Member of S. H. Ho College), Mr. Heung Shu-fai (Member of Board of Trustees, New Asia College), Prof. Lam Hon-ming (School of Life Sciences) and Prof. Leung Mei-yee (Director of University of General Education).
“Retrospect and Prospect” invites a panel to discuss and debate future developments, especially in relation to the university’s past heritage. Invited guests include Prof. Will Ng (Former Dean of General Education, S. H. Ho College), Prof. Kenneth Young (Master of C.W. Chu College), Prof. Chow Po-chung (Department of Government and Public Administration), Mr. Ho Ka-wai (Graduate of School of Accountancy) and Mr. Sun Xiao-shu (Former President of Mainland Undergraduate Association, and Graduate of Department of Systems Engineering & Engineering Management).
“Welcome, Freshers!”, organized by the college student body, is a forum for freshers to respond to earlier forums, and express their views and aspirations as the new torchbearers of the university. Invited guests include four SHHO students, Ison NG Ngai Shun, Rex CHIU Wing Yiu, Anthony TAM Cheuk Ki, Eric YANG Guang and Amy YOON Gahee.
