The college organizes a number of cultural visits to broaden the students’ horizon and enable them to experience different cultures, such as those of Egypt, India, China and Greece.
A Tale of Two Cities: Busan and Gyeongju Cultural Exploration

On 30 December, 18 SHHO members embarked on their journey to take a kaleidoscopic glimpse into the lives of the dynamic nation. From visiting sites of UNESCO’s World Heritage in Gyeongju, strawknitting in a traditional farmhouse to embracing the panoramic view of the Busan port at Haeundae district, trippers sauntered around the two cities as flâneurs.

Hooked on Polynesian Culture

Hawaii, known as the ‘Paradise of the Pacific’, brings up images of warm breezes, hula, magnificent volcanoes, soft sand beaches edged by translucent water. With keen interest in exploring the authentic Polynesian culture in Hawaii, sixteen S.H. Ho College members and students visited historical and geographical sites like Pearl Harbor and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park over the summer break. They were immersed in the cultural melting pot with ethnicities and lifestyles.

Exploring Taiwan Aboriginal Inhabitant Culture

Talking about Taiwan, many people will think of night markets, hot springs, the nostalgic architecture in Jiufen as well as the sunshine and beaches in Kenting. On 27 December 2013, thirteen S.H. Ho College members and students began their extraordinary Taiwan journey — to explore Taiwan aboriginal inhabitant culture. To all the participants, it was their first ever encounter with Taiwan aboriginal culture. The group was much impressed by the inhabitants’ passion, purity, friendliness and vibrant culture.

Traditional vs Contemporary Korea

Twenty-two members and students of S.H. Ho College headed for South Korea for a six-day cultural visit. With its high technology and creative industries internationally recognized, South Korea’s conservation measures for protecting local tradition, historic sites and natural environment impressed the visitors.
Eco Tour to Taiwan
1-7 January 2012
Seventeen SHHO students went to Kaohsiung, Taichung and Taipei to get to know eco-system as well as the history and culture of Taiwan through direct contact with the natural environment and local community. Students learned the way to benefit local economy with minimal impact on nature, and explored the possibility of bringing green concept into univeristy life.
Grace Vineyard, Shanxi Province, China
Grace Vineyard is China’s first family-owned boutique winery. Located in Taigu County, 40 km south of the provincial capital of Tai Yuan in Shanxi Province, the area is characterized by a continental climate and is highly suited to growing grapes. Grace Vineyard wines have become increasingly popular both at home and abroad. Their markets have expanded from Hong Kong to include Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Britain, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United States. In recent years, Grace Vineyard’s wines have been praised with awards and special honours, and are highly regarded by the media and public.
Students will have an opportunity to visit the Grace Vineyard and learn how to build up a winery. They will also visit heritage sites to experience Chinese culture.
